Art in the Park, Corrales New Mexico

Petroglyph Sculpture

Petroglyph Man by Justin Kirby. Steel, flagstone, hand blown glass. Torch lights up at night.

In the Albuquerque area?  Looking for something fun and free to do this weekend? The first Art in the Park show takes place this Sunday, May 15 in La Entrada Park in the charming village of Corrales.

I haven’t made anything new in the past months, but I’ll be discounting much of my existing work to make room for (eventual) new work.  My husband will have his lovely glass and steel flowers, Venus flytraps, and this new Petroglyph Man (click image for larger view).

The greyhound will also be in attendance, doing his thing as booth dog, which means eyeing everyone with great suspicion. His predecessor, the Little Rat Dog, was a fabulous booth dog. Her tail never stopped wagging and she delighted in meeting everyone.

The hound, because of his good looks, get loads of compliments, but really wishes everyone would just leave him alone. (He will, however, accept treats. He’s a food whore.)

More information on Art in the Park and the Corrales Society of Artists can be found here.  Art in the Park happens every third Sunday of the month, May through October.
